An employee’s leave balance on the ESS dashboard shows 0. Why?

If the leave balance appears as 0 on the ESS, it means the leave balance for that employee has not been processed yet.


Additionally, if your system has restrictions—such as requiring employees to complete a minimum service period (e.g., 6 months) before being eligible to take leave—the balance will display as 0 in ESS until the employee meets that condition.


However, leave will continue to accrue and be provisioned normally in the payroll system during this period.
